New Policy Brief: Unlocking the Potential of Insect-Derived Products for a Sustainable Bioeconomy

FARMŸNG partner CLIB – Cluster Industrial Biotechnology has published a new policy brief exploring the potential of insect-derived products—such as Tenebrio molitor protein and oils—for food, feed, and chemical applications.

The brief highlights the environmental benefits of insect farming, including lower land and water use, and its ability to convert agri-food by-products into high-value ingredients. It also discusses key challenges like cost, regulation, and consumer acceptance.

Importantly, it showcases quality control innovations from the FARMŸNG project, such as real-time PCR protocols for ensuring product safety and traceability.
